"Health is indivisible. What goes on in the mind reflects what is happening in the body, and vice versa."

— Alexander Lowen, M.D.

An Integrative Approach

Core modality

Biosynthesis

The foundation of my work — seeing the person as whole, with body, mind, emotion, and spirit woven together in support of healing and development.

Somatic work

Bioenergetics

Integrating Bioenergetic exercises to help you breathe more fully, release muscular tension, and feel more grounded and present.

Self-regulation

Biodynamics

Drawing on Biodynamic Psychotherapy, we work with the body's innate capacity to regulate, heal, and find balance — gently releasing tension, supporting fuller breathing, and restoring a deeper sense of well-being.

Awareness

Mindfulness

Mindful attention weaves through the whole process — observing what is happening in body and mind, building a steadier self-connection and a more spacious inner experience.

Therapy

People arrive from all walks of life — in transition, crisis, confusion, or simply with a sense that something isn't working. Body psychotherapy offers a space to explore all of that.

In a world that rarely slows down, there is something radical about therapy — time and space that belong entirely to you. To be heard, to find your pace, to feel seen and understood.

In body psychotherapy, the process includes the body as much as the mind. Somatic awareness, movement, and breathwork open pathways that talk alone cannot reach.

Every process is unique — focused on a specific issue or wider in scope, lasting a few months or several years, and concludes when you feel ready.

The first meeting is a chance to get acquainted, ask questions, and explore whether working together feels right.

Groups

Groups offer a space for development on two levels — within yourself and in relation to others. Every time a new group begins, I am moved by how the universality of human experience allows for a deep, meaningful connection between people.

For anyone looking for a space to slow down, be themselves, and feel less alone — using tools and practices from the field of body-psychotherapy, we meet online, once a week for 90-minute sessions. The group is open-ended. Periodically, members may choose to leave and new ones may join as we continue to maintain a safe and intimate space.

Living with Anxiety

A 12-week body-psychotherapy process group

One of the most effective ways to work with anxiety is through the body — grounding, breathing, and developing self-regulation. This group is for people who want a safe space to share and experience themselves, to better understand their anxiety, and to explore ways to deal with it as part of their process of self-discovery and self-development.

About Yaniv Gafner

Yaniv Gafner

I am a body psychotherapist based in Haarlem, the Netherlands, with a private practice in person and online. Since 2015 I have been working with adults of all genders and identities — in English and Hebrew, individually and in groups.

I come to each session with respect, curiosity, creativity, and humor.

In 2001 I met Alexander Lowen — one of the pioneers of body psychotherapy. The work I did with him reconnected me to my body and changed my perspective on life. It set me on a path to becoming a therapist, and I have been in continuous personal and professional development ever since.

My PhD research at Haifa University's Department of Therapy, Counseling, and Human Development explores the lived experience of body psychotherapy from both patient and therapist perspectives.
